What is "Money Mindset" anyway?

We talk about mindset a lot - in personal development, business and even leadership circles. But when it comes to money mindset, things can feel little more personal and for many of us a lot more uncomfortable.

So what is money mindset?

Here's my take. At it's core, your money mindset is a set of beliefs and emotional patterns you hold about money - about earning it, receiving it, spending it, and even whether you believe you're worthy of it in the first place.

And the sad truth is, most of our money mindset was shaped long before we even earned our first paycheque.

It's shaped by what we saw. By what we heard. By how money was spoken about (or avoided) in our homes. By cultural messaging around success, sacrifice, and self-worth.

In real life, this shows up in subtle - but powerful ways:

  • You avoid looking at your bank balance because it fills you with dread

  • You find it uncomfortable to ask for a pay rise, even when you know you're overdue

  • You earn well...but never feel secure

  • You're running a business, but undercharging or overdelivered out of guilt

  • You feel guilty when money comes in - or anxious when it flows out

If any of this sounds familiar, you're not alone. Whether you're in a corporate role or growing your own business, money is often one of the most emotionally charged areas of life - and yet it's the one we're taught to separate from emotion.

So often, we try to solve our financial challenges with more action - more strategy, more effort, more doing. But if the sub-conscious beliefs running underneath all that action are telling you "you're not enough," or "money is unsafe", you'll keep hitting the same walls.

The problem is, you can't change what you don't understand.

The good news? Your money mindset isn't fixed. It can be healed, shifted, and upgraded - when we take the time to explore it compassion and honesty.

The work I do - at its core - is about mental resilience. I help people feel calmer, clearer and stronger in the face of stress, pressure, and emotional overwhelm. And money, whether we like it or not, is a huge source of emotional stress for many of us.

I absolutely love helping my clients unravel the blocks they've been carrying (often for decades) and step into a new, expansive relationship with money.

Because here's the truth. Money isn't just a financial tool. It's emotional, energetic and deeply tied to our sense of safety, confidence and power.

By exploring and healing your relationship with money, you're not improving your finances. You're building a deeper sense of emotional safety, self-worth and resilience.

You're reducing financial anxiety.

You're increasing clarity and confidence.

And you're strengthening your mental health.

And to me, that is powerful mindset work.

It's time that we break through the discomfort and start having the real conversations - the messy, emotional, human side of money.

I'd love to know - what did you learn about money growing up? And how does that still show up for you today?
